For years, 282 Squadron has produced excellent sporting cadets with the help from their personal sports instructor, Civilian Instructor Lauretta Hamilton. The Squadron gets full use of the Newham Leisure centre facilities. From football to athletic training, the cadets on the Squadron train with the South East of England teams every Saturday morning.

This training has proved very useful, as the Athletics competition saw many cadets from the squadron come away with Silvers and Golds to lead them winning an overall catagory trophy! SGT Quinlan, CPLs Barnes, Kirabira and Rodrigues were selected for the London Wing teams. From this, SGT Quinlan showed the 282 spirit and went further to being selected for the South East of England team.

To Football, SGT Quinlan worked his way up through the local and regional teams to finally playing for the Nation against the Royal Air Force....and won!
